Scores of Perak Lazada sellers and potential sellers gathered in the office of Pusat Aspirasi Anak Perak (PASAK) for a Teh Tarik Session to learn and network, at this event jointly organised by Lazada plus PASAK.
FYI, Lazada is Southeast Asia’s leading and fastest-growing eCommerce platform. It has approximately 100 million Annual Active Consumers in SEA; to date, the highest number of active consumers among all eCommerce platforms. It has seen over a hundred percent Year-on-Year growth for four consecutive quarters. Therefore, it makes much sense to sell on Lazada, to take advantage of its high consumer traffic.
Led by Lazada Certified Senior Trainer, Yu Heng, who walked attendees through the Lazada Seller platform and its user interface, Lazada Seller Ambassador for Perak, Anna Aziz, meanwhile shared effective seller strategies that would bear results, FAST.
Anna has six years of seller experience on Lazada, mostly while working for a major company in Perak, before resigning and beginning her own eCommerce journey earlier this year. In her own words, her “life changed when she took this leap of faith.”
Two other Lazada Seller Ambassadors for Perak, Mandip and Maddox, were also around to assist at the 3-hour information-packed session.
Some of the key takeaways to being a successful seller on Lazada included knowing what the market wants first, before supplying it (think: demand first, then supply). As traffic is extremely important to generate sales, organic traffic via keyword search may not be sufficient, hence this is where paid traffic comes in. There are three ways to set up ads on Lazada: fully automated, semi-automated, and manual.
To optimise product listing for maximum organic traffic, new sellers need to spend a lot of time researching keywords and making price comparisons among competitor sellers, in addition to preparing eye-catching thumbnail photos for every product that’s being listed. To save time and flatten the learning curve, it’s better to start off with the fully automated option for setting up ads, especially during mega-sale campaigns. Sellers only have three seconds to capture the attention of potential buyers. This is true not only for Lazada but any other popular eCommerce marketplace. Within this time span, the average listing that a potential buyer browses through is twenty. This is why it’s so important to not only have an attractive thumbnail picture, but an equally irresistible price. Then comes the seller’s reputation, which is viewed and evaluated when the potential buyer clicks on the product.
