‘Art in the Heart’ Art Exhibition
An exhibition titled “Art in the Heart” is currently taking place at 22 Hale Street Heritage Gallery. Organised by Andrew Chen, the show will conclude on 8 October 2023.
Andrew has brought together talented Ipoh artists to showcase their artwork. Headlining the exhibition is Mr. Michael Lip, an architect by profession. Active in creative arts since his school days at St. Michael’s Institution Ipoh, which saw one of his paintings selected for a National Art Gallery Exhibition in 1965, painting had to take a backseat when Michael pursued tertiary education overseas. Between raising a family and establishing his professional companies, it was only recently that Michael returned to painting.
As a ‘born again” artist, Michael has already held joint exhibitions in the Klang Valley six times, before this homecoming showcase, where his watercolour and acrylic pieces are displayed, and available for sale.
Joining Michael in this collaboration is Ms. Won Chin Tong (Tomi Won), the proprietress of Ms. T Artroom, and 13 of her students, who contributed the artwork that they have diligently worked on over these past three months. Ms. T Artroom was established in Ipoh in 2016. Offering diverse art courses for pre-teens right up to adults, three learning modes are available: classroom, live video on Zoom and recorded video on YouTube.
Art in the Heart was inaugurated by Ms. SeeFoon Chan-Koppen, Director of the Ipoh Echo community newspaper. She urged guests to not “just see” these creations but to appreciate the stories, the nuances, and the dedication behind each piece of art. “Art in the Heart is more than an exhibition. It is an invitation to immerse ourselves in the rich tapestry of Ipoh’s local art scene. May this artistic sojourn be both enriching and inspiring,” she added.
