KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital organised Carnival World Heart Day 2011 at the Polo Ground (Padang Sultan Abdul Aziz) on Sunday morning. It was officiated by Y.B. Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Soon, Perak State Executive Council Member – Chairman for Health, Local Government, Consumer Affairs, Environment, Public Transport and Non-Islamic Affairs. Dr. Mah is coincidentally a cardiologist.
The half-day carnival was jam-packed with activities for families, with the focus on heart health in conjunction with World Heart Day. This is a day celebrated globally on 29th September since year 2000, to create awareness on cardiovascular diseases, the world’s largest killers. Visitors to the carnival were encouraged to wear red shirts.
