14th Ho Fah See Memorial Cup Strengthens Community Bonds
The 14th Perak Hakka Association Ho Fah See Memorial Cup Bowling Competition brought together Hakka associations and affiliated organisations from across Perak on Sunday, 11 October 2026, to celebrate friendship, community spirit and a shared passion for sport.
Organised by the Perak Hakka Association Youth Section, the annual competition attracted 20 teams, each comprising three players. The bowling event was held at Lite Superbowl JB 9, Angsana Ipoh Mall, followed by lunch and the official prize presentation ceremony at Super HLT Restaurant.

Beyond the competition itself, the event aimed to encourage members to stay active, strengthen friendships and foster closer ties among Hakka communities throughout Perak. It also provided an opportunity for familiar faces to reconnect, welcome new members and enjoy a sporting activity that has become a highlight of the association’s annual calendar.

Strengthening Hakka Unity Through Sport
The opening ceremony was officiated by Perak Hakka Association Vice-President Mr Lam Kim Hoi, Youth Section Head Ms Chee Shwu Fen and tournament sponsor Mr Ho Kat Ann.

Mr Lam expressed his gratitude to Mr Ho for his steadfast support, which has enabled the memorial tournament to continue for 14 editions.
He added that the tournament has always upheld the principles of strengthening relationships and promoting healthy recreational activities.
Bowling, he noted, is a sport suitable for people of different ages. It requires precision, rhythm and composure, qualities that reflect the Hakka people’s down-to-earth nature and perseverance.

He emphasised that the significance of the competition extended beyond winning and losing. The opportunity to gather, socialise and support one another was equally important, as the strength and unity of the Hakka community grew through such regular interactions.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Youth Section Chairperson Ms Chee said the continuation of the Ho Fah See Memorial Cup was no small achievement. More than a sporting event, it carries the meaningful traditions of honouring past generations, remembering one’s roots, strengthening community ties and preserving Hakka heritage.

She said the Youth Section should not only serve as the association’s driving force but also take an active role in bringing fresh energy to its activities.
Through sporting, cultural and charitable programmes, the Youth Section hopes to encourage more young people to join the association, participate in its affairs and ensure that the Hakka spirit continues to be passed down to future generations.
She also expressed her hope that the Ho Fah See Memorial Cup would continue for many more editions, welcoming an increasing number of young people into the Hakka community.

Keeping Ho Fah See’s Legacy Alive
The tournament’s sponsor, Mr Ho Kat Ann, said the annual competition serves not only to honour his late father but also to carry forward his passion for sport and the Hakka values of initiative, unity and mutual support.
The late Mr Ho Fah See, after whom the cup is named, was an avid bowler and sports enthusiast. The memorial tournament serves as a tribute to his sporting passion while bringing members of the Hakka community together through a shared interest.

Mr Ho also announced a contribution of RM5,000 to the Perak Hakka Association Youth Section in support of its activities and future development.
Through the continued support of sponsors, participating associations and the organising committee, the Ho Fah See Memorial Cup remains a meaningful annual gathering that honours the past while strengthening friendships and unity among Hakka communities across Perak.
