Ipoh Car-Free Day (Nov 2016)
The 13th edition of Ipoh Car-Free Day on 27th Nov, 2016 managed to attract as many as 7,600 Ipohites. The theme yesterday was “Perak State Level World Diabetes Day”.
State agencies, non-governmental organisations and corporations related to the promotion of healthy living also participated in the Sunday morning activity.
They included Puspanita Negeri Perak, Suruhanjaya Pilihanraya Malaysia, Perpustakaan Negeri Perak, Persatuan Pemulihan Orang Cacat, Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negeri Perak, Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat, Hospital KPJ, MICA, Fast Track, Kelab Sukan DBI as well as PDRM.
A Fun Walk, which was flagged off by Perak State ExCo Y.B. Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Soon, saw 2000 joining in the sport. This diabetes awareness campaign was jointly organised by Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, with Ipoh City Council, Perak Department of Health and Persatuan Diabetes Malaysia (Perak).
Meanwhile, 200 children with their bicycles took part in the Kids Fun Ride. This activity was also organised by Ipoh City Council.
Other side activities held yesterday morning were a push-up challenge, mini petting zoo, senamrobik (or Zumba), soccer kid and kickboxing, which were all family friendly.
The main objective of this Ipoh Car-Free Day Programme is to achieve a lower carbon footprint in the city.

Wah, KL should do the same because traffic congestion is so bad but I think there will be a lot of angry drivers. Hahaha.
