One of the best things about bulan Ramadan, for both Muslims and non-Muslims, is the opportunity to relish in authentic Malay cuisine. At Tower Regency Hotel, Ipoh, we have the chance to fete on Perak Malay cuisine for one whole month.

The culinary team for this Ramadan buffet, led by Chef Zulsazli Mohamed, Chef Ahmad Hakim Ayub and Chef Raden Nor Fariq Shah R Norhi, is under the watchful eye of Executive Chef Dorett Joseph.

With several sets of menus presented on daily rotation basis, there are at least fifty items served every day, including the popular ulam-ulaman and kerabu that Perak is so well known for, such as Kerabu Kacang Botol, Kerabu Tauge, Kerabu Daun Selum, Kerabu Pepega and Kerabu Perut.

This is followed by main courses, with Udang Sambal Petai, Gulai Lemak Ikan, Ikan Tempoyak and Asam Pedas Ikan Pari Bandi. Don’t forget the kawah-style cooking of Rendang Tok and Kari Daging Cincang, just to highlight a couple of local specialities.

Then there are live action stalls, where guests can witness how their food is cooked. From mee goreng mamak to bakso and cucur udang, take your pick, you won’t be disappointed.

Of course, how can I not mention about the BBQ station? While there will be grilled items served on a daily basis, Fridays and Saturdays are reserved for a whole lamb. So, diners who want to feast on the lamb need to make a date with it on Fridays and Saturdays. Bakso is also available on these two days.
