Hotel Excelsior Ipoh Value Sets for Lunch @ RM16+
Great news! Hotel Excelsior Ipoh has a new Executive Chef, with expertise in Chinese cuisine. Executive Chef Seong is a familiar name to many locals, as he has spent the past thirty years cooking up a storm in the kitchens of top hotels and Chinese restaurants in the city.
Chef Seong’s journey to be Hotel Excelsior’s newly appointed Executive Chef is a colourful one, with his career path charted since he was a child, helping out at his mom’s food stall. With Seong’s previous posting at The Haven, we know that his culinary skills have reached a top-notch standard.
Therefore, Chinese meals are available at Hotel Excelsior Ipoh again, both at Dulang Coffee House and Palace Restaurant. Value Sets are served for lunch at a pocket-friendly RM16/- per set. The price is exclusive of 6% SST. These meals are full sets, served course by course, inclusive of a complimentary Soup and Dessert of the Day.
Meanwhile, tables for ten pax or Chinese banquets are also available for booking, with a specially curated menu that would meet your budget. Reservations are required for these dining options, unlike Dulang Coffee House which welcomes walk-in diners.
Chef Nabil, who is in charge of Malay cuisine, helms Dulang Coffee House. Already into his second year with Hotel Excelsior Ipoh, Chef Nabil shares that the central kitchen of the hotel is Halal-certified. This means that no matter Chinese, Malay, Asian or Western, all the ingredients and utensils meet the stringent requirements of JAKIM.

The value-set offerings were drawn up by Chef Nabil, who might refresh the menu depending on demand and customers’ feedback. Currently, there are Chinese, Asian, and Western Sets.
For our lunch, we went for the Chef’s Recommendations of Chicken Chop with Thai-Style Rice, Chinese Chicken Chop Rice, Deep-fried Fish Fillet with Thai Sauce Rice from the Chinese menu, plus Fried Chicken Chop from the Western menu. In fact, all the items ARE Chef’s Recommendations. We will savour the other yummy options during our return visit.
