Malaysia Auto Xpo (MAX) 2026 Makes Its Debut at MAEPS Serdang with Cars, Motorsport and Lifestyle Attractions
Automotive enthusiasts had plenty to look forward to as the inaugural Malaysia Auto Xpo (MAX) 2026 debuted at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) over the weekend of 7 and 8 November 2026.
Bringing together modified automobiles, motorsport activities, automotive businesses and lifestyle attractions, the two-day event offered a broader take on car culture, extending beyond the usual motor show experience.
Conceptualised and owned by Alaf Sentosa Sdn Bhd and organised by Element X Strategies, the team behind Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur from 2023 to 2025, MAX 2026 was supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.
Three Major Components Under One Roof
MAX 2026 brought together three main components: Malaysia Auto Xpo, the International Auto Modified (IAM) show and competition series, and Tempatan Fest.
IAM, which has been held in Malaysia since 2011, is an established automotive lifestyle show and competition series with events across Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and the United States.
Meanwhile, Tempatan Fest added a different dimension to the programme, celebrating Malaysian streetwear, vintage collectibles, independent creative businesses, visual arts and music.
Together, these three platforms brought automotive enthusiasts, industry players and the wider creative community under one roof.
Customised Cars, Tuners and Automotive Showcases
One of the main attractions was the extensive collection of customised vehicles featuring work by local and international tuners.
Car enthusiasts could explore different styling concepts, modifications and automotive builds, alongside auto styling competitions and exclusive unveilings by tuners.
Other attractions included classic cars, car club gatherings, automotive trading, a car auction and a dedicated area for diecast collectors.
For those interested in automotive performance, the dyno challenge was another major draw, with participating vehicles competing to determine which car had the highest horsepower in Malaysia.
Motorsport Action and Interactive Experiences
The event went beyond static car displays with several activities catering to motorsport fans.
Visitors could enjoy drifting demonstrations, drift taxi rides and sim racing competitions, offering different ways to experience the excitement of motorsports.
There was also a dedicated opportunity for hobbyists and racing enthusiasts to explore automotive activities and interact with fellow community members.
Fashion, Pageantry, Batik and Entertainment
MAX 2026 also incorporated fashion and cultural elements into its programme. An automotive race queens fashion show provided a platform for Malaysian designers and local fashion brands, while the Miss Auto Culture Malaysia pageant added another highlight to the weekend.
One particularly interesting feature was the batik car-wrapping showcase, bringing a traditional Malaysian art form into the automotive setting.
Live stage performances and a large food fiesta further complemented the event, making it more than just a gathering for car enthusiasts.
Tempatan Fest Celebrates Malaysian Creativity
Running alongside the automotive showcases was Tempatan Fest, which brought together local streetwear labels, vintage traders, creative businesses, visual artists and independent musicians.
The festival offered a different atmosphere from the automotive displays, with an emphasis on local creative talent, lifestyle products and independent brands.
Its inclusion gave MAX 2026 a wider appeal, attracting visitors interested in fashion, collectibles, music and contemporary Malaysian culture.
9,000km Exclusive Car Tour from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo
One of the significant announcements made during MAX 2026 was an exclusive car expedition from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo, covering approximately 9,000km over 35 days.
The ambitious journey will pass through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, China and South Korea before reaching its final destination at the Liberty Walk headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.
Leading the expedition will be a specially built Liberty Walk-kitted Toyota GR Supra by Element X Strategies.
The car will be driven by MAX 2026 Ambassador Vera T., a motorsport lifestyle content creator and racing driver.
The announcement adds an international dimension to the inaugural event, highlighting the organisersβ ambitions to connect Malaysiaβs automotive scene with the wider motoring community.
Building a Bigger Automotive Platform for the Future
According to the organisers, MAX 2026 was envisioned as a platform to bring together the many aspects of automotive culture, motorsports and lifestyle while creating opportunities for businesses and industry players.
Beyond entertainment, the event also aims to promote responsible motoring, road safety and greater public awareness.
As its inaugural edition, MAX 2026 serves as an introduction to what the organisers hope will develop into a bigger and more iconic automotive showcase in the coming years.
With modified cars, motorsport performances, lifestyle exhibitions, fashion, music and local creative communities all sharing the same platform, the event certainly offered a diverse programme for visitors to explore.
