Api-Api Steamboat & Grill
A dinner of a combination of steamboat and grill is getting more and more common lately. As I do not take beef, I have to be careful that I do not have beef in my hotpot.
At Api-Api Steamboat & Grill, diners would first have to choose their ingredients from the various freezers, buffet style. They can top up as much as they like, but food wastage is not encouraged, thus a fine of RM30 is imposed for every plate of food left uneaten.
Once the hotpot-cum-grill is prepared, with the help of staff if necessary, diners can start putting food into either the hotpot or grill section to be cooked.
Just like there is a correct way to enjoy a steamboat meal, there is possibly also the right way to eat at Api-Api. I mean, we don’t want to mess up the soup, right?
During our dinner there one night, we had live entertainment by UKUlele Malacca. I didn’t really pay attention to their music as I was too busy keeping an eye on the hotpot. No beef, please! LOL

Steamboat-cum-grill is very popular in Japan and Korea and our local restaurants are catching up with this trend.
