Iftar Jalinan Kasih DSV with Orphans and Single Mothers: A Meaningful Ramadan Gathering at MH Hotel Ipoh

Ramadan is a time for reflection, compassion and togetherness; thus, a gathering in Ipoh last evening captured these values beautifully.

Majlis Iftar Jalinan Kasih DSV brought together orphans, single mothers, and community partners for a heartfelt evening of breaking fast, goodwill, and generosity.

Held at the elegant setting of MH Hotel Ipoh, the event welcomed 19 children from Rumah Anak Yatim Cahaya Kasih Kinta, offering them not only a festive iftar meal but also a reminder that they are surrounded by a caring and supportive community.

By bringing together orphans, single mothers, and members of the community, the programme created a space where everyone can share in the blessings of the season.

Although the main patron, Dato’ Sri Vida, was unable to attend the event in person, her presence was still strongly felt through the support she provided to make the gathering possible.

A Five-Year Commitment to Community Giving

This year’s programme carried special significance as it marked the fifth consecutive year that Dato’ Sri Vida has hosted an iftar event dedicated to orphans.

Widely known as a successful cosmetics entrepreneur from Perak, she has consistently supported initiatives that bring joy and comfort to those in need. Over the years, the annual iftar has grown into a meaningful tradition that many participants look forward to each Ramadan.

For the children from Rumah Anak Yatim Cahaya Kasih Kinta, the evening provided a welcome opportunity to enjoy a scrumptious buffet at a top-rated hotel while celebrating the spirit of the holy month together.

Among the guests present last evening were two special siblings, Aina Afieyah (aged 9) and Mikhail (3), who both live with Epidermolysis Bullosa, often referred to as EB.

EB is a rare and painful genetic condition that causes the skin to be extremely fragile. Even minor friction can lead to blistering and tearing of the skin. Both children have the recessive dystrophic type, one of the more severe forms of the condition.

The siblings attended the iftar together with their parents, Muhamad Nazreen Syah Musthafa and Norshuadah Abu Bakar, who continue to care for and support them through the daily challenges that come with the condition.

Their presence at the occasion not only added a deeply personal dimension to the evening but also helped raise awareness about EB, reminding everyone present of the strength and resilience shown by families living with rare medical conditions.

Community Partners Strengthening the Initiative

Events like this are often made possible through the collective efforts of multiple organisations working together. One of the key contributors was Econsave Cash & Carry, which supported the programme by providing assistance for single mothers. Their contributions included essential daily necessities, offering practical support that can make a difference in everyday life.

Meanwhile, Tourism Perak added a thoughtful touch by contributing goodie bags to the children. These tokens of generosity brought extra smiles to the young guest attendees.

Through these collaborations, the evening became more than just a meal. It demonstrated how businesses, organisations, plus individuals can come together to support the community during Ramadan.

With the continued support of partners and sponsors, the programme aims to remain an annual highlight that brings comfort and happiness to those who need it most.
