Miss Perak Tourism 2015
Cheered on by their respective fans and supporters, fourteen finalists took to the runway to vie for the Miss Perak Tourism 2015 crown.
After a hectic week-long competition which saw the ladies being put through a grueling contest which included fashion sense and talent round, and for the first time in the pageant’s history, social media mobile application to determine the most popular finalist and a reality show, the moment that we have all been waiting for had finally arrived.
Emerging victorious was 21-year-old Rishon Shun from Teluk Intan. The second year UTAR student couldn’t contain her broad smile as she was also awarded three subsidiary titles: Miss Popularity, Miss Glamorous and Miss Elegant.
As the queen, she walked home that night with a crown, sash and trophy, besides RM6,000 cash, pearl necklace with a topaz centrepiece worth RM20,000, a 4D/3N holiday package to Seoul, Korea for two, and other sponsored beauty and skincare products.
Rishon is also automatically the tourism ambassador for Perak, with the responsibility to promote tourism attractions in the state.
Scoring second spot was Ipoh lass Davina Naidu. The 20-year-old is a customer service executive. Despite participating in Miss Malaysia Tourism last year and was not placed, she continued to pursue her dream of becoming a “queen” one day.
With her runner-up spot, Davina will, along with Rishon and second runner-up Nicole Tan Pi Yao, get a shot at the national-level Miss Malaysia Tourism in Kuala Lumpur this September.
Nicole Tan Pi Yao, 25, is no stranger to pageants, having been crowned Miss Cheongsam in last year’s Miss Perak Culture & Charity Night 2014. The student majoring in Mass Communication enjoyed participating in pageants as these are good platforms for her to improve herself, and expand her network of contacts. She also won Miss Loving Heart subsidiary title.
