Charity Event In Aid of Perak Parkinson’s Association & Ipoh Down Syndrome Centre
It was a busy morning at the grounds of Adonis Bridal/Potpourri House Café yesterday, when the charity event jointly organised by the Perak Parkinson’s Association and Ipoh Down Syndrome Centre went underway.
It began as early as 7.30am when a group of cyclists were flagged off in the cycling round. The almost 20km route took them about 90 minutes to complete.
Meanwhile, the food fair attracted a good crowd of shoppers, all in the name of charity. In addition to having Ipoh’s best culinary delights on offer, some other booths had household items for sale too.
Essen Hair Studio was there to offer hair cuts and judging by the queue, they were very popular!
The pet event which began at 10am attracted a good number of dogs and their owners. Organised by Jean Veterinary Clinic, there was a owner/dog speed eating competition, lookalike contest and a mini obstacle course challenge.
Perak Parkinson’s Association and Ipoh Down Syndrome Centre hoped to raise RM100,000 from the event. The Parkinson’s Association would like to upgrade their centre at Taman Mirindy with exercise equipment while the Down Syndrome Centre requires RM8,000 monthly for expenses.
Besides raising funds, the event also served to create awareness about the two medical conditions as well as on the availability of support groups in Perak.
