Ipoh Mayor’s Iftar: A Heartwarming Evening of Giving and Togetherness
Organised by the Ipoh City Council’s Strategic Communications Unit in collaboration with M Roof Hotel and Econsave, children from Pertubuhan Baitul Aini Anak-Anak Yatim dan Miskin Ipoh, and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Cahaya Kasih Kinta were brought together for an evening filled with warmth, generosity, and communal bonding.
The occasion was graced by esteemed guests, including Ipoh City Mayor Y.Bhg. Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin @ Md Daud, alongside Chief WHIP Ipoh City Councillor Dato’ Haji Mazlan bin Abd. Rahman, Ipoh City Councillor-cum-Chairman of the MBI Communications Committee Tuan Muhammad Hamzah bin Dato’ Haji Md Hamdan; plus representatives from partnering organisations: Encik Shah Effendy bin Rosman, Northern Region Manager Econsave (Cash & Carry Sdn Bhd); M Roof Hotel management, and Encik Sayed Hesham bin Syed Idris, Chairman of Persatuan Pengamal Media Perak (PPMP).
Also present were Y.Bhg. Datin Noraini Abdullah, Founder-cum-Chairperson of Pertubuhan Baitul Aini Anak-Anak Yatim dan Miskin Ipoh, and Encik Norizan bin Razali, Principal of Pertubuhan Pusat Jagaan Anak-Anak Yatim Al Yassin.
This initiative was part of the broader MBI Prihatin Programme, reflecting the city council’s commitment to supporting those in need and fostering a compassionate community.
A Day of Joy: Shopping for Raya Attire
Before breaking their fast at M Roof Hotel, the children were treated to a special shopping trip at Econsave Klebang Supermarket, where they chose new Raya outfits, all fully sponsored by Econsave. This thoughtful gesture ensured the children would have new, beautiful attire for the festive season, bringing smiles and excitement ahead of Hari Raya.
A Feast to Remember
As the sun set, guests gathered for a yummy Iftar buffet, partly sponsored by M Roof Hotel. The hotel’s Ramadan buffet is available from 6th to 25th March, 2025.
The joyful event was not just about sharing a meal but also to embrace the spirit of Ramadan, i.e., compassion, unity, and gratitude.
Spreading Kindness: Duit Raya and Shopping Vouchers
In a heartfelt moment, MBI presented “duit raya” to the children, while Econsave donated shopping vouchers, ensuring they have additional support for their festive needs. These contributions exemplified the power of corporate social responsibility (CSR), where businesses and the community come together for a noble cause.
Mayor’s Call for Greater Community Involvement
During his speech, Mayor Dato’ Rumaizi expressed his appreciation to the sponsors, acknowledging their role in making the event possible.
“I extend my gratitude to Econsave and M Roof Hotel for their generous support. Their commitment to corporate social responsibility truly makes a difference in our community.”
He also encouraged more businesses to step forward, stating, “I hope to see more corporations undertaking initiatives that benefit Ipoh residents in need.”
