Ipoh Chin Woo hosted a Chinese New Year open house on the third evening of the Spring Festival, celebrating not only a new lunar year, but also Chinese culture and tradition.
As an association with a world champion traditional lion and dragon dance troupe, it was not surprising that the boys and girls of Ipoh Chin Woo were given an opportunity to showcase their skills in wushu, lion and dragon dancing through various performances.
Guests were also entertained with a rhythmic Chinese drum performance, using brand new drum sets, and a Chinese folk dance, all performed by young members of the association.
Ipoh Chin Woo President, Dato’ Ooi Foh Sing, in his speech, reminded everyone not to take the country’s peace and stability for granted, reiterating the association’s ethos to love oneself, family, Chin Woo, and of course, the country. He also thanked generous sponsors for their unfailing support all these while. Ipoh Chin Woo will be sending a delegation to Shanghai, China this August to participate in a world wushu championships.
The Board of Governors also handed over RM500 as financial aid to 11-year-old Master Wong, whose parents left him in the care of a neighbour, without financial support. Dato’ Ooi stressed the importance of responsibility of parents towards their children.
The night, similar to previous years’ celebrations, ended with a karaoke competition.
