Chin Woo Carnival Opening Ceremony
With MCA Perak Vice Chairman Dato’ Lee Chee Leong as guest-of-honour, the 28th Malaysia National Chinese Chinwoo Carnival and International Chinwoo Wushu & Cultural Carnival 2013, in short “Carnival”, was opened in a colourful fashion.
The Carnival was declared open by President of Federation of Chin Woo Association Malaysia, Mr. Tan Bee Seng.
Once the formalities were over, a rousing Chinese drums and cymbals performance by members of Ipoh Chinese Chinwoo Association, entitled Drum of Commandant, kicked off the night’s line up of entertainment.
That power-packed performance was followed by mass taichi, mass lion and dragon dance with thirty lions and two dragons, and Chinese folk dance, also by Ipoh Chinese Chinwoo Association.
Soon to follow was a beautifully choreographed mass wushu performance, a joint effort by members of Fellow Associates of Chinwoo Malaysia. The audience had a respite from the energetic line up of programmes with a choir performance by Sarawak Chinwoo Association.
After three tracks, the programme picked up pace once more with a taekwondo demonstration by Perak State Taekwondo Association (GTS) and karate performance by Perak Shotokan Karate Union Malaysia, with an improvised brass band performance by SMJK(C) Sam Tet in between.
The lengthy ceremony wrapped up with a surprise martial arts performance by the Tianjin delegation, which left the audience on the edge of their seats.
The Carnival is currently on-going and wraps up tonight. Refer to this post for the tournament schedule.
