International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW™) The MFMPA Pride of Perak
International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW™) supported and endorsed by Perak State Government and Tourism Perak graced by Her Royal Highness, DYMM Raja Permaisuri Perak Darul Ridzuan, Tuanku Zara Salim for IIFW 2019 has taken on a life and energy of its own since it was inaugurated five years ago. IIFW™ – an event that has an important bearing on the economy and contributes to the international standing in the world fashion stakes.
Fashion in Malaysia is influenced by the historical fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and various other indigenous cultures. International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW™) has become a central platform for positioning Malaysia as a thriving emerging fashion capital, with a two-pronged objective of showcasing Perak/Malaysia-based fashion talent globally and at the same time welcoming the world to the Wonders of Perak. IIFW™’ has helped boost tourist arrivals to the Silver State as we showcase our culture, food and popular tourist destinations.

This Ipoh-grown International Ipoh Fashion Week showcase received due recognition from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) during the Malaysia Fashion, Modeling & Pageant Awards (MFMPA) 2020 recently organised by MMK and SFW. They were awarded the MFMPA Fashion Week of the Year 2019/2020 in a ceremony held at the Grand Ion Delemen Hotel, Genting Highlands. IIFW Founder, Mr Louis Sebastian and wife Ms Adeline Khan were elated to receive the accolade at the glittering event. It was a recognition for the sacrifice and hard work since the first IIFW in 2017. Quick to congratulate them were YTM Raja Dato’ Seri Azureen, ExCo for Housing, Local Government & Tourism YB Dato’ Nolee along with IIFW Patron YBhg Datin Seri Dr Nomee Ashikin.

Mr Louis Sebastian took the opportunity to thank all those who had helped, namely friends, Sponsors, Donors, Media Partners, State Government Agencies and Perak state government to make the IIFW editions successful. Although IIFW 2020 had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IIFW™ Board Members are hopeful of a virtual fashion week that can be hosted in the coming year under the new norm.

There are no words to describe the total commitment of the IIFW™ Board Members for their contribution to this eye-opening, horizon-broadening accomplishment that has set a milestone for Perak State, and thus setting its course as an annual key event in the state.
It is hoped that the Ipoh fashion industry keeps on being brave so that the younger generation can be inspired.
Yupe! Gotta keep on believing so that we can weather through this storm. 🙂
