Fly Ipoh – Singapore

Quite a number of readers wrote in asking for information on the Ipoh Airport, so I went to the airport to seek information on flight services. Right now, we only have twice-daily flights to and from Singapore, operated by Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines (MAS).

The Ipoh – Medan flight service offered by Unimaju Fly Travel & Tours (UFTT) ceased in late January, 2012 after about two months because of some technicalities but is expected to resume in late March, 2012. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

In conclusion, at this point in time, the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport only services flights from Ipoh to Singapore and vice versa, which is operated by Firefly.

Judging from the flight schedule below, it is not possible to make a day trip to Singapore and be back to Ipoh on the same day. However, for passengers flying in from Singapore, it is possible to do a quick Ipoh tour and fly home on the same day, thanks to the comfortable interval between flights.

Flight schedule (frequency: daily)
From Singapore to Ipoh:
Flight No. FY3542 – Depart – 9.40am, Arrive – 11.20am
Flight No. FY3546 – Depart – 2.30pm, Arrive – 4.10pm

From Ipoh to Singapore:
Flight No. FY3543 – Depart – 11.40am, Arrive – 1.20pm
Flight No. FY3547 – Depart – 4.35pm, Arrive – 6.15pm

Ticketing counter operation hours:
9am – 5pm (daily)
1pm – 2pm (lunch hour)

Terms & Conditions:
– Firefly check-in counters are open 90 minutes before and close 30 minutes after the scheduled departure time.
– Check-in and obtain your boarding pass at least 1 hour in advance. Be present at the boarding gate at least 30 minutes before departure.

Parking fee (Sultan Azlan Shah Airport): RM1 per entry

Taxi services are available at the Ipoh airport, with fares starting from RM15, depending on Zones (distance). There is a 50% increase in fares between the hours of 1am to 6am. Taxi rental is also available at the rate of RM50 for the first hour and RM25 for each subsequent hour.
