Cantonese-Style Super Value Set Meal @ IMP Kitchen
Setting foot in IMP Kitchen is like being transported back to the time of ancient China, the kind of scene that is commonly depicted in Chinese imperial movies. Decorated with heavy wooden furniture, Chinese lanterns and storage jars, with yellow-lit ambience to match, the only thing that seemed mismatched was the crew’s uniform.
IMP Kitchen, a non-Halal Cantonese restaurant in Greentown Ipoh, is about 1.5 years old. Today’s post highlights the restaurant’s Super Value Set Meal.
If you are familiar with set meals, you would know that the portions could be rather small. My worry wasn’t unfounded at IMP Kitchen but the art of dining on such set meals at any restaurant is to upsize it by ordering an add-on dish from the à la carte.
Another option is to order a larger set for fewer people. For example, if there were three diners, order the set for four.
These photos show our lunch one day, when we had the Super Value Set Meal for 4 pax. For this meal, we were served four plates of rice and four bowls of Soup of the Day, which was the nourishing Lotus Duck Soup.
These Value Set Meals are available for dine-in only. For this four-pax set, we were allowed to select three items from the main course menu, and add a selection of vegetables to the set. This means that we had four main courses. As for the two-pax set, diners are to select two main courses, in addition to an option of seasonal vegetables.
On the whole, IMP Kitchen has our thumbs up, not because we are biased towards Cantonese flavours but it’s the truth that the dishes here are really tasty and on point – neither too salty nor sweet.
