33rd Edition of Ipoh Car-Free Day: 9,000 Strong Participants
The 33rd edition of Ipoh Car-Free Day which was hosted yesterday morning along Jalan Raja DiHilir managed to attract the participation of 9,000-strong Ipohites, and those from surrounding areas.
This Ipoh Car-Free Day was also a celebration in conjunction with World Rivers Day, World Tourism Day, International Coffee Day, World Heart Day and Mid-Autumn Festival.
Said Ipoh City Council Planning Director, Zulqarnain Mohamad, “The objective of Ipoh Car-Free Day is to achieve a low carbon city, as well as to promote a healthy and green lifestyle.”
Government agencies and NGOs came together to make the event a success. Among them were PUSPANITA, BOMBA, PDRM, Perak State Health Department, KPJ, MICA, Daybreak Association, Ipoh City Watch, Perak State Library, Tun Razak Library and many more.
Side events that were organised during this Ipoh Car-Free Day included 6km Sungai Kinta Bike Ride, aerobics, badminton clinic and Human Table Football, among others.
