30th Ipoh Car-Free Day: Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri
Some 7,000 residents participated in the 30th edition of Ipoh Car-Free Day, held on the last Sunday of every month.
The green programme with a Hari Raya Aidilfitri theme was graced by the presence of ExCo for Perak State Tourism, Arts & Culture, YB Tan Kar Hing; Kepayang State Assemblyman YB Dr. Ko Chung Sen; Canning State Assemblywoman YB Jenny Choy, as well as representatives from various government and private agencies.

There was a long list of programmes lined up, including recycling awareness campaign by KoHijau, health screening by the National Population and Family Board (LPPKN), and healthy lifestyle promotion with Cycledios /MICA.

There were other family-oriented activities as well, such as yoga, zumba, archery, street soccer, self defence demonstration, aerobics, petting zoo, 5km Aidilfitri fun cycling which was also participated by YB Dr. Ko, and more.

Joining government agencies in creating awareness for an overall healthy lifestyle during this bustling Ipoh Car-Free Day were private corporations from Power Root to McDonald’s.

According to Ipoh City Council Planning Director Zulqarnain Mohamad, this car-free programme is expected to make Ipoh a low carbon city and cultivate healthy living among a community of people. The monthly event is also anticipated to enhance the Index of Happiness among Ipoh residents by creating awareness on the environment, health, security, history and legacy of Ipoh City.
