Ipohites who were not directly involved in the Merdeka Parade knew to stay away from Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab, Ipoh Padang, KTM Railway Station and their surrounding areas on the morning of Independence Day, August 31st.
Traffic was horrible due to road closure to make way for the obligatory annual state-level Independence Day march-past.
However, this year presented a reason for me to be in Old Town which saw me stuck in a traffic jam, lack of a parking spot, and a long walk to my destination.
Midway, I took the opportunity to snap some photos of the various contingents in their smart uniforms.
Although I planted myself in a spot away from the main stage, I still managed to witness the pomp and pageantry of such a significant event.
And for those of you who have avoided getting stuck in traffic due to Independence Day parade where ever you live, you have to give it a try at least once in your life. 🙂
Here goes my belated greeting: Selamat Menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan, Malaysia!
