The annual Merdeka children’s colouring contest jointly organised by Ipoh Parade and Sin Chew Daily saw hundreds of children from as young as 4 years old queuing up as early as 9.30am to get themselves registered in the colouring contest in the hope of snapping up one of the many lucrative prize packages.

As per previous years, there were three age categories for the competition: 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12 years old. Champions in these three respective categories walked away with RM600 cash, trophy, certificate, sponsored products and vouchers to be spent at the shopping mall’s tenants.

First runners-up won a reduced cash prize of RM500, while second runners-up received RM400 alongside the above-mentioned prizes. There were ten consolation winners per category whereby each walked away with RM200 and other prizes.

The children, armed with their colouring tools, and some even with tables and chairs, coloured their impression of a liberate and harmonious Malaysia, as the country just celebrated her Independence Day on August 31st.
