Patriotism Burns Bright as Ipoh Parade’s Merdeka Colouring Contest Returns
To commemorate the country’s 65th anniversary of independence from British rule, Ipoh Parade will be organising a colouring contest for patriotic young Malaysians. The annual Merdeka Colouring Contest will be held at the mall’s main court on 28 August, Sunday.
Children from ages 4 to 12 who wish to profess their love for the country are welcome to join the contest. Awaiting the winners are prizes totalling RM9,000 across all categories, thanks to the co-organiser, World of Colours, and valued sponsors from Ipoh Parade.
“Even the simple act of ‘colouring’ is a crucial skill for self-expression in a child’s early development,” remarked Lim Huey Tyng, Assistant Manager for Advertising & Promotions at Ipoh Parade. “We are delighted to be able to hold this meaningful event again this year to promote the flag-waving spirit among the younger generation.”
Registration for the colouring contest will remain open until 25 August 2022. There is no fee to register. Those interested in participating may register online HERE or obtain the registration forms at Ipoh Parade’s Information Counter on the Ground Floor, or at the World of Colours Art Centre.
Participants and their parents and family members are reminded to observe the SOP for Covid-19 prevention at all times while taking part in the event at Ipoh Parade to keep everyone safe.
The colouring contest is divided into 3 categories: (i) Category A for children from 4 to 6 years old, (ii) Category B for children from 7 to 9 years old, and (iii) Category C for children from 10 to 12 years old.
The contest time for each category is as follows:
Category A
10:30am – 12 noon
Category B
2pm – 3:30pm
Category C
4pm – 5:30pm
Due to the high volume of participants anticipated for this competition, all contestants are advised to arrive at least 1 hour before the contest time of each category for registration. The prize presentation for Category A will be conducted at 1pm, while for Categories B and C prize presentation will be conducted at 6pm.
