The Straits Chinese Jewellery Museum is located just before popular Malacca boutique hotel, Puri Hotel, and opposite of the ancestral home of Tun Tan Cheng Lock (No. 111) along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, formerly Heeren Street.
Owned by Baba Peter Soon Seng Mah from Penang, who is also the owner of Penang’s Pinang Peranakan Mansion, the collection here at this jewellery museum is a work of thirty long years and easily worth millions of Ringgit. There are currently 400 pieces of jewellery on display.
Opened in October 2012, this Straits Chinese Jewellery Museum is believed to be the only jewellery museum in South East Asia. While the ground floor of this museum is furnished to depict a home of a Peranakan family, the upper floor has been partitioned into three sections.
