Visit Perak Year 2024 Pre-Launch & Unveiling of VPY 2024 Logo
The Perak State Government, through Tourism Perak Management Berhad unveiled the Visit Perak Year logo during the year-long tourism event’s pre-launch on the third day of Perak Travel Fair 2.0 at NU Sentral Shopping Mall in Kuala Lumpur.

YAB Menteri Besar Perak Dato’ Seri Saarani Bin Mohamad was at hand to do the honours. In his opening speech, he shared about the West Coast Expressway (WCE) which will enhance the Silver State’s position as a popular tourist destination by road.

“The WCE involves the last exit at Taiping Selatan, directly connected to the exit at the North-South Expressway (PLUS) at Changkat Jering. As such, this 233-kilometre expressway project connects Banting in Selangor to Taiping Selatan in Perak. Starting from Hutan Melintang, the route takes travellers through the state of Perak via several exit junctions, such as Teluk Intan which is famous for its Leaning Tower, and Sitiawan, the gateway to Pangkor Island.
“The Changkat Chermin and Beruas exits will take travellers to explore the uniqueness of the Central Perak District and trace the history of the old kingdom of Ganga Negara. This route will lead to Trong and Taiping Selatan which proceeds to Taiping Heritage Town, a major tourist attraction in the state.”
WCE is currently in its final stages of construction and is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2023, just in time for Visit Perak Year 2024 (VPY 2024 / TMP 2024).
Complementing WCE, train travellers from the north will find it easier to visit Perak as the KTM Komuter rail service from Padang Rengas to Bukit Mertajam will be extended southward to Ipoh from September 2023.

During the pre-launch event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Malaysia Travel Agents Association (MATTA) Perak Chapter and the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) to further strengthen the cooperation between the two tourism industry players.
Also present at the pre-launch ceremony were Perak State Secretary YB Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi bin Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser YB Dato’ Azmir Shah bin Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer YB Tuan Mohd Zaki bin Mahyudin, State ExCo for Tourism, Industry, Investment & Corridor Development YB Tuan Loh Sze Yee, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia, YB Tuan Khairul Firdaus bin Akbar Khan alongside Tourism Perak Chief Executive Officer Cik Nurmalis Binti Musa.

Over the three days of Perak Travel Fair 2.0 from 14th until 16th July 2023, various programmes & activities were carried out, including cultural performances, food sales, handicraft showcases, gameshows, quizzes and sharing sessions. Attractive Perak travel packages were also offered.

What a splendid day it was at the NU Sentral Shopping Mall in Kuala Lumpur on July 16th, 2023! I can’t express enough how excited I am after the pre-launch and unveiling of the Visit Perak Year 2024 logo – this is indeed a great moment for all of us who love travelling and exploring new places.
Kudos to YAB Menteri Besar Perak Dato’ Seri Saarani Bin Mohamad for his inspiring words during his opening speech. The vision behind the West Coast Expressway (WCE) sounds absolutely fascinating. Driving through Teluk Intan and Sitiawan, stopping to take in their unique attractions, then heading on towards Central Perak District and Taiping Heritage Town – it’s like an open invitation from Perak State itself saying “come explore me!”
I’m also thrilled about the impending completion of WCE by end-2023, just in time for Visit Perak Year 2024. This should make road trips smoother and more convenient for everyone.
It’s comforting to know that train travellers have not been left out; with KTM Komuter rail service extending southward from Padang Rengas to Ipoh starting September 2023, travelling by rail is going to be even easier!
The signing of MoU between MATTA Perak and TTAA also brings a wave of optimism, seeing two giants of the tourism industry come together to strengthen ties speaks volumes about what’s in store for us visitors.
What got me really nostalgic were those cultural dances performed during the event – an absolute delight! And kudos to everyone who organised such engaging activities all through those three days; quizzes, game shows and sharing sessions never fail to get attendees involved.
So here’s looking forward to VPY 2024 – let’s mark our calendars and start planning our Perak adventures. Can’t wait!
