As ghoulish screams and shrieks filled the concourse area of Ipoh Parade, students from SUB International School of Beauty & Make-Up took to the runway as they competed to be the best in the school’s annual Halloween make-up contest.

A total of 45 students displayed their skills in coming up with make-up that would scare the living daylights out of most of us.

They competed in one of the four categories: Playboy / Cosplay, Career / Character / Animals, Elegant Bride and Vampire / Ghosts / Injured.

I have to take my hat off to these students for their creativity and imagination, considering that Halloween, which falls on October 31st, is a day observed mainly by Christians in the West, to remember the dead.

For the ninth year now, SUB International School of Beauty & Make-Up also organised similar competitions for their students in Kuala Lumpur (Oct. 4th at Providence KL) and Penang (Oct. 31st at Cuvée Penang).

These photos that I am sharing today were from the Ipoh edition of the competition.

Out of the 45 entrants, this is a selection of some of my favourites, although I really like to include all of them.

Truth be told, some of these entries really looked scary but I guess, that was the whole point, right?

Still, I am glad that I finally managed to catch this SUB Halloween Competition yesterday. I kept missing them in the past due to other commitments!

Besides the search for the Top 3 winners, where points were tabulated based on make-up, overall look and creativity, two other awards were presented – Best Dressed and Best Make-Up. Also, all the entrants received a Certificate of Participation for their effort.

Event sponsors, besides Ipoh Parade as venue sponsor, included iFeel as official magazine, Ben & Lynette, Branded Collection House, Spritzer, Sabah Tea and Zalora.

SUB International School of Beauty & Make-Up is one of the top beauty schools that I know of in Ipoh, offering more than 20 professional beauty courses. Students are exposed to theoretical and practical training such as make-up show, hair show, fashion show , etc.

This annual Halloween Make-Up Competition and other similar contests by SUB that I have covered on my blog are just part of the school’s practical training for its students.
