Wedded to the Violin: A Carnatic Violin Concert by Vidushi A. Kanyakumari
Leading Indian classical violinist Vidushi A. Kanyakumari gave Ipoh folks an evening to remember when she presented a violin recital titled, “Wedded to the Violin”.
Vidushi, from Chennai, India, is a world record holder for being the first female violinist to have performed non-stop for 29 hours, a fete she achieved in 1988.
During her recital in Ipoh, she was backed by three accomplished musicians – K. Visveswara Prasad on the mridangam, Amrit Nataraj on the khanjira and V. Anand on the violin.
Her performance was made possible by Greentown Indian Cultural Society Ipoh, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, the High Commission of India to Malaysia and the Indian Cultural Centre Kuala Lumpur.
