She provided a comprehensive introduction to Perak, covering essential travel information and the state’s tourism campaign. She introduced Perak as a Malaysian state rich in heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant culture.

Ipoh, the capital city, is easily accessible by flight, train, or road, making it a convenient destination for travellers. She also introduced Perak’s tourism mascots, Kopiro and Kopita, two charming tapirs supporting the state’s ongoing tourism efforts.

Tourism Perak focuses on four key segments: ecotourism, culture, heritage, and gastronomy. The state’s natural beauty is evident in its pristine rainforests, caves, and islands, making it a paradise for nature lovers.

Its cultural landscape is equally captivating, with traditional arts, performances, and local customs forming an integral part of the visitor experience. Perak’s historical landmarks, including the UNESCO-listed Lenggong Valley, contribute to its rich heritage.

Additionally, the state’s culinary scene is highly acclaimed, with Ipoh white coffee earning international recognition. In 2024, the renowned coffee was listed as one of the world’s top ten coffees by TasteAtlas.

Furthermore, Ipoh itself has received numerous accolades, including being ranked as the sixth must-visit Asian destination by Lonely Planet in 2016. Most recently, Time Out placed Ipoh fifth on its list of must-visit Asian cities for 2025.

Among the many attractions in Perak, Puan Zuraida highlighted the Royal Belum State Park, Pangkor Island, Pulau Bangau, and Kinta Valley Geopark. These destinations offer a mix of adventure, relaxation, and nature appreciation. The success of Perak’s tourism campaign is reflected in the record-breaking 8.4 million tourists who visited the state during Visit Perak Year 2024, surpassing the initial target of 8.35 million visitors.

The Wonders of Belum Rainforest

The second presentation, led by Encik Zainuddin Bin Abu Hassan, General Manager of Belum Rainforest Resort, focused on the remarkable Belum Rainforest. This ancient rainforest, which is four times the size of Singapore, is one of the oldest in the world. It is home to a vast array of wildlife, making it a biodiversity hotspot. The rainforest is a sanctuary for 140 species of mammals, 336 species of birds including 10 species of hornbills, and the endangered Malayan tiger.
