Pesta Budaya Nusantara @ Ipoh 2022
Despite a heavy downpour, the show must go on, and go on it did, i.e. the inaugural Karnival Jom Santai X Pesta Budaya Nusantara @ Ipoh 2022 at Stadium Indera Mulia, Ipoh.
The event was launched by Perak State Tourism Executive Councillor YB Loh Sze Yee, alongside Ipoh City Mayor Y.Bhg. Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin @ Md Daud, plus Ipoh City Councillor-cum-City Council Tourism Committee Chairman Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ahmad Hariri bin Kamarudin. Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Ipoh City Councillors and City Council Secretary Tuan Ahmad Munir bin Ishak.
Pesta Budaya Nusantara @ Ipoh 2022 is a showcase of traditional dance and music originating from the different Malaysian states. Based on this concept, this cultural fest doesn’t only create an awareness of the varied dance forms and tunes from across the country, but it also serves as a preservation of unique cultures for the younger generation to keep alive over time.
The multicultural and multiracial community of Ipoh formed a sense of identity and cooperation through artistic activities, such as the drum performances and combos according to the races, namely Malays, Chinese, and Indians, who gave their individual musical compositions a touch of creativity.
Pesta Budaya Nusantara @ Ipoh 2022 is a positive step forward by establishing yet another new tourist attraction in the city of Ipoh by providing an opportunity for arts and culture advocates to promote their respective cultural products while networking with like-minded artistes in line with the vision to propel Ipoh City as a City of Arts in Malaysia.
Participants of Pesta Budaya Nusantara @ Ipoh 2022 included Gema Warisan Budaya, Kumpulan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (Petaling Jaya City Council Culture and Arts Group), Bahagian Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Majlis Bandaraya Melaka Bersejarah (Melaka City Council Culture and Arts Division), Perkusigatra, Greentown Indian Cultural Association as well as Choy Lee Fat Martial Arts Association.
Organised concurrently with Pesta Budaya Nusantara @ Ipoh 2022 is Karnival Jom Santai, a street food carnival besides shopping bazaar, with the primary objective to stimulate Perak’s economy and as a preview for Visit Ipoh Year 2023.
It is hoped that Pesta Budaya Nusantara @ Ipoh 2022 creates a platform to strengthen the camaraderie of the various states through food and culture, as well as establish Ipoh City as one of the best domestic tourism destinations in the country.
