Opening Ceremony of Hague Hockey Square
To celebrate Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014 that is currently being hosted in The Hague, Netherlands, and to get all residents in The Hague to be involved in the tournament, Het Plein, the city’s “Square” in downtown, just adjacent to Parliament House, has been turned into Haags Hockey Plein (Hague Hockey Square) from May 30th to June 15th, 2014.
Launched by the Mayor of The Hague, Mr JJ van Aartsen, visitors to Haags Hockey Plein can soak in the fun of hockey, a family sport here in the Netherlands, with a series of programmes and entertainment that have been lined up for 17 days.
This lively centre for all hockey-related activities in the heart of the city begins daily at 9am with hockey demonstrations and clinics run by local hockey clubs and even gym classes for high school students.
On match days, hockey matches in the Kyocera Stadium will be broadcast live on a large screen at the Hague Hockey Square beginning 10.30am.
Meanwhile, at 5pm, come and enjoy live stage entertainment by popular artistes. Highlights are Residentie Orkest, De Dutch Don’t Dance Division, Jon Tarifa, Tim Akkerman and Sintiromarus.
Dance the night away with local DJs spinning energetic tracks. For further information and the day’s programme, check the website of Haags Hockey Plein at www.haagshockeyplein.nl
