Nu Sentral Shopping Mall, Kuala Lumpur
With a total of eight levels, Nu Sentral, pronounced “New Central”, is a new shopping complex that is within Kuala Lumpur Sentral and part of the RM1.4 billion investment by Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) and Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB).
As Malaysia’s first integrated ‘green’ lifestyle and transit mall hub, it is developed to optimise the changing lifestyles of both Malaysians and international travellers by offering connectivity, convergence and convenience.
With a soft launch ceremony on March 29th, 2014, currently, only about 50% of retail space has been filled up. Tenants are continuously coming in, with Sam’s Groceria opening for business here on May 23rd and Tony Roma’s on May 27th.
During my recent visit to the mall, tenants that are already in business included Pedro, Victoria’s Secret, Sephora, Rina J, DC Tribe, Kickers, Puma, The Lingerie Shop, Cotton On, Sinma, Machines, Focus Point, Nando’s and McDonald’s. Parkson is one of the anchor tenants.
The floor space of this complex is huge and searching for a particular store could be overwhelming but once shoppers understand that stores are located according to one of these categories, Needs, Wants, Desires, Inspiring, Indulge, Entertainment and Unwind, it will be easier.
I have a feeling that this new environment will be one of my favourite hunting grounds whenever I transit Kuala Lumpur and have some time to kill.
I can’t wait for Nu Sentral to be completely occupied. That would be a whole lot more interesting.
