The recent state-level men’s bodybuilding championship known as Mr. Perak was a full-day competition held at Ipoh Parade. Due to my tight schedule, I was only able to stay for two weight categories: Lightweight and Middleweight. I had to forgo the Welterweight and Heavyweight categories – what a pity!
All the contestants had to go through a stringent selection process, where they had to perform seven mandatory poses. The finalists for each weight category also had a freestyle routine. They should then individually make the best use of that time to fully portray their entire physique.
While waiting for results to come in, the audience were treated to 90 seconds of posedown, where contestants once again tried to outdo each other with their various poses, although points were no longer awarded.
I was disappointed my favourite Ipoh bodybuilder, No. 50 Suhaimi Roslan, came in second in the Lightweight category. Sniff! Oh yes, as a treat, 6-time Mr. UAE by the name of Abdul Rashid (spelling could be wrong), was also here to show how off his body. Check my photos! 🙂
