4th Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng Perak Grand Prix Chess Championship
The fifth and final leg of the 4th Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng Championship held at Syuen Hotel on Sunday wrapped up the prestigious grand prix chess tournament.
Sponsored by Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK), jointly organised by Perak International Chess Association (PICA) and Dato’ Arthur Tan Chess Centre (DATCC), it attracted 151 participants. There were three categories: Open, Under 17 and Under 12.
Here are the results of the top three winners per category:
Open:
1) Ahmad Fadzil Nayan
2) Tan Khai Boon (National Master)
3) Fong Yit Ho
Under 17:
1) Suniil Kali Vanan
2) Jagathees Guna Balan (only 11 years old)
3) Ang Zhen Yuan
Under 12:
1) Chuah Hao Min
2) Chua Jia Tien
3) Ang Jing Xuan
And the winners of the 4th Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng Perak Grand Prix Chess Championship based on total points collected over the five legs, were:
1) Ahmad Fadzil Nayan
2) Fong Yit San
3) Tan Khai Boon
4) Muhd Syazwan Zulkifl
5) Fong Tit Ho
6) Syamaizar Lup
7) Azmi Ishak
8) Ahmad Mudzafar Ramli
They won a total of RM2500 in prize money.
Guests of honour included Dato’ Lee Hau Hian (Director of Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd.), Dato’ Sri Edmund Santhara (Deputy President of Malaysian Chess Federation and director of Masterskill Education Group Bhd.) and also Abdul Hamid who represented Dato’ Tan Chin Nam (Honorary life President of Malaysian Chess Federation).
