MATTA Fair Perak 2011
Today is the first day of MATTA Fair Perak 2011. For serious shoppers of holiday packages, spending one or two hours at the venue is certainly insufficient. One would have to jostle with the crowd and then compare prices of holiday deals and then queue up to purchase! You should see the long queues at the booth of Resorts World Genting!
My targets at MATTA Fair earlier this morning were exotic local tours and cheap vacation packages out of the country. I collected a lot of colorful brochures and hopefully, I can find something suitable in the next couple of days before MATTA Fair Perak ends. To my dismay, again, most brochures are printed in Chinese. Like duh… not everyone reads Chinese!
Right now, two tour packages stood out for me. One is a day trip to Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore. The all-in fare is only RM28! The usual price is RM38nett! Each guest will also be given a SGD10 meal voucher. Isn’t this an exceptionally good deal? I am trying hard to forget that I read in the papers about FREE trips to Singapore.
I am already thinking that I should go; I could spend some time at the Integrated Resort then take the free shuttle train out to VivoCity, meet some friends who are now based in Singapore and ride back to Sentosa Island on the shuttle train, paying SGD3, and catch the express coach home to Ipoh at about 4pm. This means that I’d be missing the Light & Water Show! It would be a terribly tiring trip, though, since the coach departs Ipoh at about 9 to 10pm from this place in Ipoh called “Small Genting”. If you’re local, you would know where.
Another tour package that is interesting to me is the 8 Day / 7 Night tour of Zhangjiajie, China. If you have watched Avatar, you would have seen the floating mountains of Zhangjiajie. The original name of these mountains was “Southern Sky Column” but since Avatar, the Chinese Government changed the name to “Avatar Hallelujah Mountain”. This tour package starts from RM2698. Some Malaysians spend more than this amount over eight days in Malaysia!
As for the rest of the supposedly cheap holiday packages, I really need more time to go through them. Anyway, don’t expect only the sale of cheap holiday deals at MATTA Fair Perak. There are also booths for VW cars, bridal wear and wedding packages, mobile phones, high speed internet, credit cards and even beverage! Oh, by the way, I’m still scouting for cheap cruise!
