Ipoh Parade “Grant A Wish” 2019 Campaign Brings Joy to 190 Children

Bright smiles filled the faces of 190 children across eight homes in Perak as they walked away with their desired presents at the gift presentation ceremony held in Ipoh Parade recently. The function last Saturday wrapped up the mall’s annual ‘Grant A Wish’ Christmas 2019 Campaign in spreading joy and festive cheer to the underprivileged.

Held for the tenth consecutive year, Ipoh Parade’s “Grant A Wish” 2019 Christmas Campaign that lasted from 18 November till 15 December encouraged shoppers to fulfil the various wishes of children from the participating homes. Shoppers could prepare their gifts based on the wish notes displayed on the giant-sized “Grant A Wish” board and drop their gifts at the Information Counter. Alternatively, well-wishers could also take part by donating cash into the donation box, placed next to the board.

The children who converged at Ipoh Parade for the gift presentation ceremony were from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Harapan Baru, Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Yatim Rumah Vision, Precious Gift Home, Rainbow Children’s Home Perak, The Salvation Army c/o Ipoh Children’s Home, The Salvation Army Ipoh Boy’s Home, Pertubuhan Pengurusan Pusat Jagaan 1 Malaysia, Perak and Pertubuhan Pengurusan Rumah-Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Dan Miskin Anning.

The event started off with a movie screening of “Jumanji: The Next Level” at the Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), followed by refreshments courtesy of Marrybrown, Born & Bread, My Home One and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Other activities that kept the children entertained included a magic show by the skillful Peter Au Young, as well as dance performances by Yencci Dance Studio and The Dance Lab, respectively.

“The ‘Grant A Wish’ 2019 campaign is Ipoh Parade’s way to give back and to bring Christmas cheer to the children. This year marks a decade for Ipoh Parade’s Christmas campaign and we are glad that it has received very good response from shoppers,” said Ipoh Parade Advertising & Promotions Assistant Manager Lim Huey Tyng.

According to Lim, sportswear and electronic gadgets were among the popular gifts received by the mall. Other gifts donated by shoppers included musical instruments and stationery. “Apart from that, we are also grateful to shoppers who contributed cash to support the cause; we have used them to purchase gifts for the children.”

Deputy Director of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Harapan Baru, Cheong Wan Hee expressed her gratitude to Ipoh Parade for this meaningful event as the children got their dream gifts materialised. Three of the children from the home, Kar Wen, 10, Jing Tong, 8 and Ba Duncan, 3 had wanted a bicycle each so that they could cycle around the home during their free time.
