For the sixth consecutive year, Ipoh Parade continues its tradition in giving back to the less privileged through its Grant A Wish event, in conjunction with Christmas.
The event, which encouraged well-wishers, shoppers, tenants and staff of Ipoh Parade to share the joy of the season with less fortunate children in the community, fulfilled the wishes of 156 kids, the largest number in its history.
The children, from 1 to 18 years old, were from seven homes, namely Ipoh Christian Centre (Agape Home), Pertubuhan Kebajikan Harapan Baru, Salvation Army Ipoh Boys Home, Precious Gift Home, Good Shepherd Family Home, Vision Home and Pertubuhan Anak-Anak Yatim & Miskin (Anning Ipoh).
From 25th Nov to 22nd Dec, 2015, each child’s wish card was displayed at Ipoh Parade’s Information Counter on the Ground Floor whereby the public could donate the gifts, be they brand new, preloved, or cash, to give true meaning to this season of giving, making it more memorable for the children.
Cash donations received were used to purchase gifts that were not among those donated by patrons.
According to Ipoh Parade Centre Manager Chan Yu Yin, “Christmas has and always will be about giving and sharing. With this in mind, as the community mall, Ipoh Parade is continuing with the tradition of remembering the less privileged children by fulfilling their Christmas wishes. The excitement and joy reflected on each and every child’s face is priceless.”
26th Dec was the day of gift presentation and unwrapping ceremony. All these children and their guardians were invited to the mall to receive their gifts. They were also treated to a scrumptious lunch jointly sponsored by tenants Papa John’s Pizza, Kopitiam Avenue, Born & Bread, The Chicken Rice Shop and Kenny Rogers Roasters.
Entertainment was provided by Rejuvenate Dance Crew, internationally acclaimed beatboxer Shawn Lee and Au Young de Clown.
