Ipoh Car-Free Day Chinese New Year Edition (Feb 2016)

The fifth car-free day in Ipoh City was a Chinese New Year edition that received tremendous support from the public.

An estimated 3,000 people spent their Sunday morning along the carbon monoxide-free Jalan Raja DiHilir, enjoying the change of scene with their families.

Besides the usual activities that were held on car-free days over the past few months such as cycling, rollerskating, aerobics, busking, percussion performances and angklung demonstration, this time, the presence of the two lions stole the show.

Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Zamri Man, who was also there to see to the success of the event, believed that this programme will help Ipoh achieve a lower carbon footprint.

He added, “We have received great support not only from the public but also our partners. Many of them have continued to participate in Ipoh Car-Free Day since its first edition in October, 2015.

“More varieties will be added in with every car-free day held to offer visitors a wider range of activities to participate in.”

The next instalment of Ipoh Car-Free Day tentatively falls on Sunday, 27th March, 2016. Stay tuned for more updates!
