International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW) Season 5.0 Charity Black Tie Royal Gala Dinner
The stage is set in Perak for the state’s most anticipated fashion extravaganza: International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW) Season 5.0 is ongoing from 1st until 3rd December in Ipoh and Lumut.

It is not just fashion, it is tourism fashion with a heart. In its fifth season already, IIFW was established in 2017 and received the Fashion Week Award of the Year 2019/20. This initiative brings together local and international fashion talents to showcase their fashion creativity on the largest, most glamorous stage on the fashion calendar this side of Malaysia.

With 2024 being Visit Perak Year, IIFW promotes tourism through fashion, by welcoming international fashion designers, plus models to explore the wonders of Perak, while shining the global spotlight on talented local designers.

IIFW 2023 launched with much glam alongside a charity black tie royal gala dinner at the Royal Perak Golf Club. The dinner showcase was graced by HRH Raja Permaisuri Perak Darul Ridzuan Tuanku Zara Salim, HRH Raja Puan Besar Perak Darul Ridzuan Raja Nazhatul Shima Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah and Yang Teramat Mulia Raja Dato’ Seri Azureen binti Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-lah. Other dignitaries included the wife of Perak Menteri Besar Datin Seri Aezer Zubir, YB Loh Sze Yee (Chairman of State Tourism, Industry, Investment & Corridor Development Committee), Orang Besar Jajahan Kinta YDH. Toh Muda Orang Kaya-Kaya Panglima Kinta Seri Amar Bangsa DiRaja Dato’ Abdul Wahab bin Dato’ Seri Azizul Hassan, Tourism Perak Berhad, foreign ambassadors, IIFW Founder-cum-Chief Executive Officer Mr. Louis Sebastian, Ipoh City Council management, celebrity fashionistas, designers and performers.

This charity black tie royal gala dinner will be followed by a public street fashion showcase along Jalan Bandar Timah the next morning (2nd Dec), and a finale at the Lumut Naval Town Waterfront Maritime on 3rd Dec.

Furthermore, Fashion with a Heart is a dazzling display of style, creativity, and innovation. Beyond high-street fashion, it is a deep sense of commitment to social responsibility, offering hope to the many children and their families in the community who are facing health, and financial challenges.

IIFW is an independent non-profit organisation that champions fashion tourism with a heart. IIFW only works closely with the government of the day, with a focus on celebrating the flair and diversity of the fashion industry, be they designers or models. Most importantly, IIFW Ipoh is out to make a great social impact on the community.

Meanwhile, IIFW is not only a fashion week, but a journey. Hopping on board is Vale in Malaysia, which took up the exclusive sponsorship package of Orchid at RM50000, making them the top supporter of IIFW 5.0. Besides Vale, other staunch supporters of the cause included Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad, Quest International University, and KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital.

Proceeds from the charity dinner, totalled RM36183, were donated to Hospital Seri Manjung (Paediatric High Dependency Unit PHDU Department). Veteran singer Datuk DJ Dave, who billed IIFW for his rendition of three songs during the charity gala dinner donated his entire paycheque of RM10000 through his company Shahdave Enterprise to the same beneficiary, Hospital Seri Manjung.

Said YB Loh in his opening speech, “With a two-pronged objective of showcasing Perak’s homegrown fashion talents globally and at the same time welcoming the world to explore the Wonders of Perak, IIFW 5.0 has boosted tourist arrivals as we showcase our culture, food, and popular tourist destinations. Perak has many of the right ingredients to succeed in its Visit Perak Year 2024 campaign.”

Coming after the opening gimmick by Francis Yip (winner of STYLO Fashionista of the Year Award 2019 at Malaysia Fashion Week 2019) and hair fashion by Hairdressing Skills Development Organization (HSDO), eight fashion houses presented their collections on the runway. They were Lucky Seven (a Chinese designer based in Singapore), Kolej Komuniti Batu Gajah, Rohacraft, Rette Tianita & Sha-Nad Studio, FM@Cheongsam, Dreamwear by Manju Dhakal from Nepal, Ipoh-born Khair Johari along with his plus-size collection, and last but not least, Farel Mikhail X Precious of Malaysia.

All in all, IIFW 5.0 involved more than 80 models, both local and international. View the full photo album of International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW) Season 5.0 on our official Facebook Page by clicking HERE.
