The Inaugural Perak Agrotourism Carnival 2024 Enhances Agrotourism Industry

A significant amount of RM6 million in revenue is contributed to the state’s economy.

The Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC) has achieved its target of RM6 million contribution to the state’s revenue through the inaugural Perak Agrotourism Carnival 2024 (PAC 2024).

The success was propelled by attractive agrotourism packages in Perak, which offered up to 70% discounts on over 100 agrotourism products during the three-day PAC 2024 event from 17th until 19th May 2024, hosted at Resort Tasik Raban, Lenggong.

Dato’ Haji Yahanis Yahya, Chief Executive Officer of Perak SADC, highlighted the organisation’s active role in promoting the agrotourism industry, including remarkable events like Agrofest, plus the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture & Agrotourism Show (MAHA). He expressed that PAC 2024 is expected to become an annual event, invigorating the agrotourism sector and positively affecting the state’s economy.

“PAC 2024 will positively influence Perak’s economic growth. Following this carnival, economic benefits will continue to spread to the Lenggong area and Perak at large. The continued implementation of such events will attract more tourists from both domestic and international markets, enhance the agricultural and tourism potential of the region, and create new opportunities for local entrepreneurs and economic contributors.

“Moreover, initiatives like this promote environmental and local cultural sustainability, which is crucial for responsible tourism development,” he said.

Additionally, mock cheques were presented to three districts, each amounting to RM100,000, to implement their respective agrotourism projects.

Manjung Municipal Council

In addition to agrotourism packages, PAC 2024 visitors enjoyed hot air balloon rides, partook in various adventure sports such as water sports and flying fox, shopped at the agro bazaar and food festival, attended forums, and enjoyed performances by popular local artistes, besides cultural displays.

PAC is inspired by Perak Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Seri Haji Saarani Bin Mohamad, under the Agrotourism Valley (Food Security) flagship programme. Perak SADC remains dedicated to vigorously support the State Government in enhancing the agrotourism sector, in line with the initiatives aimed at achieving the Perak Sejahtera Plan 2030.
