Chef Wan Cooking Demonstration in Ipoh
The recent COVID-19 pandemic and its ensuing prolonged lockdowns have taught us, if nothing else, the importance of being self-reliant. Many of us started to plant vegetables also reared chickens and fish at home. Diligently watching one video after another on YouTube, we have even picked up cooking skills. While we may not be culinary experts, at least we had plenty of time to learn and were passionate about picking up a new skill in the kitchen.
According to Malaysian top celebrity chef, Chef Wan (Datuk Redzuawan Bin Ismail), these are in fact, two of the most important ingredients in cooking up a storm. The third would be investing in quality cookware.
Last Saturday, Chef Wan was in Ipoh (AEON Kinta City) to showcase his well-honed culinary expertise in a demonstration using the Neoflam Chef Wan Collection of pots and pans. Chauffeured for five hours all the way from Cyberjaya, he was greeted by eager fans of all races, keen to learn a thing or two about cooking, particularly using the right cookware.
By Chef Wan’s definition, quality would mean a combination of the right elements:
1. solid
2. stainless steel
3. non-stick material
The cookware used should be a good conductor of heat to save energy, has weight to it, including comfortable handling.
The Neoflam Chef Wan Collection was specially handpicked by Chef Wan himself, to offer the best cookware at an affordable price. Even though quality cookware is an investment, Chef Wan believed that it needn’t come with a big price tag. Therefore, this collaboration with Neoflam and AEON was a campaign that Chef Wan was delighted to render his stamp of approval, for the benefit of AEON shoppers. Through the Star Rewards redemption campaign, shoppers could purchase Neoflam Chef Wan Collection at a steep discount.
During the afternoon demonstration, Chef Wan prepared two dishes: Thai-style prawn curry and spicy assam chicken. These are only two of the many popular items on the menu at Chef Wan’s restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. How lucky that his Ipoh fans were able to get a taste of Chef Wan’s very own cooking.
Bringing along with him his larger-than-life personality both on and off stage, Chef Wan got the audience in stitches with his jokes and anecdotes. He also shared that his specially curated menu with timeless Malaysian recipes will be served onboard 6-time World’s Best Airline, Qatar Airways, beginning 15th July, 2022. Congratulations to Chef Wan. Yet another feather in his cap.
The two-hour cooking demonstration flew by in a jiffy. His much-awaited appearance at AEON Kinta City wrapped up with an exclusive autograph-cum-photography session, much to the appreciation of his fans.
