Blood Donation Drive & Organ Pledge Campaign 2024
Endeavouring to wrap up 2024 on a charitable note, Persatuan Keturunan Kwong Siew Perak (2024) will organise its 3rd blood donation-cum-organ pledge drive, together with four other prominent Perak non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
They are Persatuan Penganut Ibu Naga Perak, Perak Kwang Tung Association, Persatuan TCM Harapan Baru Ipoh Perak, and Persatuan Perkasa Sosial Komuniti Kuala Kangsar Perak.
Joining them in this initiative are 12 other NGOs, namely:

With the theme, “Berbakti untuk masyarakat,” the organisers are targeting a collection of 100 to 150 pints of blood from this campaign, which will be handed over to the Blood Bank of Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) Ipoh. This replenishment of the blood inventory at the blood bank will benefit anyone in need, whether they are being treated at a private or public hospital.
Cindy Chow, in her capacity as the organising Chairperson, said, “One pint of blood can save three lives. By donating blood, you’re not just giving a part of yourself; you’re giving hope and a second chance to those who need it most. It’s an opportunity for each of us to contribute to the well-being of our community in a meaningful way. Beyond blood donation, we’re also ready to support those who wish to pledge their organs by offering step-by-step assistance to make the process simple and accessible. We thank all our joint-organisers and venue sponsor, AEON MALL Kinta City, for their support.”
The blood donation and organ pledge will be conducted on the 1st floor of AEON MALL Kinta City (by the entrance of OSIM) from 11am until 4pm on 29th December 2024.
On the same day and time, on the ground floor of the mall, Dr. Siew Qui Hen, a medical officer from the Kuala Kangsar District Hospital, will be conducting a series of talks and practical demonstrations on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and emergency rescue, which will equip individuals to handle unexpected medical situations effectively.
This campaign will be launched by YB Tuan Mohd Azlan Helmi bin Helmi (Exco for Communications, Multimedia and Non-governmental Organisations) on the said date at 11.30am (ground floor).

Blood plays a crucial role in saving lives, especially for accident victims, patients undergoing major surgeries, and those fighting illnesses like cancer or blood disorders such as thalassemia. A shortage in blood supply can delay critical treatments, potentially leading to preventable loss of life.
Did you know that donating blood not only helps those in need but also benefits the donor’s health? Regular blood donation has been associated with reduced cardiovascular risks, such as lowering blood pressure. The human body contains about ten pints of blood, and donating just one pint can make a difference. Blood donation reduces haemoglobin levels, which in turn decreases blood viscosity. Lower blood viscosity can help prevent blood clots, reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
