As a sub-event of the Ipoh Music Symposium 2022, the 1960s-era music exhibition at Black House, PORT in Ipoh makes an interesting visit for music lovers, especially those who still hold dear the tunes and artistes from six decades ago.
Although the documentation is all in the Malay language, the exhibits encompass popular Western bands, amidst Malaysian acts, including the Ipohite homegrown boyband of those days, The Fabulous Falcons, led by musician extraordinaire Christopher Choong.
Visitors to this 10-day exhibition, which began on 21st October, should allocate plenty of time by virtue of the numerous exhibits on display, particularly the vinyl record collections. Many of these items were contributed by individuals, as well as the Penang House of Music. In fact, think of this music exhibition as a scaled-down version of Penang House of Music, focusing only on the 1960s.
Besides music records, other items curated were fashion, electronics and lifestyle setups for the 1960s vibe in Black House. These photos alone certainly do not do justice to the sheer time and effort put into bringing this 60s era to the community. Admission is free-of-charge, so make your way there before it wraps up on 30th October, 2022. Opening hours are from 10am until 6pm daily.
