A total of 600 guests were invited to a lavish course dinner at Royal China Restaurant in Ipoh, courtesy of local developer, Andaman Group.
The guests, individual senior citizens above 60 years old and from selected old folks’ homes in Ipoh, were given the opportunity to join in the celebration in conjunction with the company’s tenth anniversary.
The five old folks’ homes were Central Welfare Council Peninsular Malaysia, The Salvation Army Perak Home for The Age, Anning Old Folks’ Home, Rumah Seri Bahagia and Home For The Aged (CWS) Simee. On the other hand, the individual senior citizens redeemed their free tickets to the dinner via newspaper cut-outs.
Besides the scrumptious dinner, guests, who arrived as early as 5pm, were entertained throughout the evening by top-class performers, including mentalist Queen Sheba, harmonica maestro Keith Valentine and acrobat Master Lee.
Andaman Group Dato Sri (Dr) Vincent Tiew made the evening even more memorable for all when on behalf of the company, he presented RM300,000 to three beneficiaries: SJK (C) Sam Tet, SMJK Sam Tet and the John Moh Foundation. The donation, shared equally, made this the fourth consecutive year that Andaman has supported these three organisations.
According to Chairman of the Board of Governors Rev Father Stephen Liew who received the donation on behalf, it will be placed in the education fund and will be used to upgrade the school’s football field.
The meaningful charity dinner, which was hosted during the Mid-Autumn festivities, brought joy to the hearts of all who attended it. It was definitely RM150,000 well spent, Andaman!
