AMCAA Official Induction and Installation of Officers for 2023-2025

There was an air of jubilation yesterday at the Ipoh City & Country Club as the Ave Maria Convent Alumni Association (AMCAA) celebrated the official induction and installation of officers for the 2023-2025 term.

It was a momentous afternoon, far from an ordinary oath-taking ceremony. This event marked a changing of the guards, with the previous term’s AMCAA President, Madam Moy Ooi Thye, stepping aside after serving the alumni for an impressive 36 years. She now assumes the role of Honorary Life Chairperson.

With a fresh team of office bearers led by the new President, Madam Chik Mun Ling, AMCAA is poised to reach even greater heights. Their mission extends beyond the alumni association itself; they are committed to supporting Ave Maria Convent primary and secondary schools in Ipoh, as well as their current and future students. Despite shouldering this heavier responsibility, Madam Chik has received assurances that her committee will steadfastly support her endeavours, regardless of the challenges.

There were more reasons to celebrate, including AMCAA’s 41st birthday. Additionally, August, September, and October babies were invited to participate in the cake-cutting ceremony.

The occasion was made even more memorable by the presence of retired headmistresses and former students of the primary and secondary schools. While they reminisced about their time at Ave Maria Convent, some also took the microphone to entertain guests with a round or two of karaoke singing.

Touched by the close-knit camaraderie among AMCAA members, a guest by the name of Lena Lam, an alumnus of Main Convent Ipoh, made an impromptu donation of RM3000 to the association. This generous gesture is sure to support positive causes, similar to the half a million Ringgit that the association has raised and donated over the years.
