Ipoh Auto Carnival 2023
Organised by CM Motorsports Sdn Bhd, a local prominent car repair shop, in collaboration with companies related to the automotive industry, the two-day Ipoh Auto Carnival 2023 successfully drew approximately 20,000 visitors to the event held at Stadium Indera Mulia, over the last weekend.
In a bid to promote the economic growth of Ipoh through various automotive activities in conjunction with Visit Ipoh Year 2023, and also to encourage the local youth to engage in healthy activities, Ipoh Auto Carnival 2023 has received endorsement as well as strong support from both Ipoh City Council and the Perak State Government.
Guest-of-honour, Perak State ExCo for Tourism, Industry, Investment & Corridor Development YB Tuan Loh Sze Yee, in his speech praised CM Motorsports plus their event partners for creating this platform that brought together individuals who share a passion for automobiles. He added, “Ipoh Auto Carnival can serve as a foundation for strengthening unity and harmony, aligning with the State Government’s directive to boost tourism. This direction emphasises two key strategies: enhancing tourism products and promoting tourism widely. I hope that tourism operators and industry professionals will continue to make greater efforts to strengthen the unique branding and marketing promotion associated with Perak. This will have a lasting impact and encourage tourists to revisit the state of Perak repeatedly.”
In conclusion, YB Tuan Loh expressed hope that Ipoh Auto Carnival will grow even bigger next year, becoming an annual event and a fixture on the annual Perak Calendar of Events, especially for Visit Perak Year 2024.
Ipoh Auto Carnival 2023 featured two major programmes: Gymkhana and Autocross competitions, which attracted more than a hundred participants from all over Malaysia and Singapore. With safety as a top priority, the driving speed was limited to below 50 km/h and in low gear to manoeuvre the obstacle course.
Gymkhana and Autocross are racing forms that emphasise the driver’s skills in handling vehicles quickly and efficiently through specially designed routes with various obstacles. Drivers require high agility skills to complete the course quickly without making mistakes or causing collisions. This method tests the efficiency of drivers in controlling their vehicles in challenging conditions. The differences between Gymkhana and Autocross lie in the length of the route, the type of course, and the precision of speed.
Throughout the two-day event, there were also exhibitions on automotive products, with OneWay, a producer of lubricating oil from Taiwan, as the main sponsor. INSPEED brake maker from China and Sunoco lubricating oil from Japan were also present.
Special guest Mika Hakimi hosted the racing simulation category. Mika is a professional racer in the world of racing simulation and has secured numerous championships to date. He also holds the record in Malaysia for race simulation.
Last but not least, there was no better event to host car club meetups last weekend than the Ipoh Auto Carnival. In addition to Toyota Vios and Proton X50, 35 classic cars were on display to captivate visitors. View the full photo album of Ipoh Auto Carnival 2023 on our official Facebook Page by clicking HERE.
