Equestrian Competitions (National Horse Show 2010)

The National Horse Show (Pesta Kuda) is back. Equestrian competitions kick off the National Horse Show 2010 today, with various classes from preparatory to preliminary to novice, elementary, dressage and equitation showjumping.

I visited in the morning and managed to get some videos and photos to share on my blog. I followed the horse number 42 “Diplomat” in its warm up before the competition and also during competition in the class of “Elementary 3B”. The rider’s name is “Yen Yen Hua” or something that sounds like this, from the Selangor Turf Club Equestrian Centre.

From what I understand, equestrian competitions are held over four days from 2nd to 5th December, 2010 and participants come from equestrian centres all over the country, and these competitions form part of the National Horse Show 2010, the fourth national horse show. Besides equestrian competitions, the expo and carnival will be held from 3rd to 5th December, 2010.

As you can see, equestrian competitions are held the entire day throughout the four days. The highlight is probably the Tan Sri Dato’ Seri V. Jeyaratnam Challenge Trophy (Kejohanan Ekuestrian Sekolah-Sekolah Malaysia 2010 Piala Pusingan Tan Sri Dato’ Seri V. Jeyaratnam), though I have no idea when exactly this will be held.

Living in Ipoh, where we have one of the largest turf clubs in the country, I have always wanted to get up close to horses but never found the opportunity. These equestrian competitions during National Horse Show 2010 gave me an excellent excuse.
