Sama-Sama Gong Xi: Perak State-Level Chinese New Year Celebration
The heavy evening rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of visitors at the Perak State level Chinese New Year celebration with the theme, Sama-Sama Gong Xi on 6th Feb, 2020, or the 13th day of the Lunar New Year.
Graced by His Royal Highness Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and his consort , Her Royal Highness Sultanah of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, as well as other dignitaries, this year’s Spring Festival merriment was indeed different from previous events.
Hosted at Bandar Seri Botani Eco Park 1, it was a celebration beyond welcoming the Year of the metal Rat. Instead, it brought Ipohites from all walks of life together for an opportunity to immerse themselves in Malaysian culture on this auspicious occasion.
The Visit Malaysia Year 2020 campaign certainly started off with a bang in Ipoh. Opening the Sama-Sama Gong Xi event with lion and dragon dance performances, highlights throughout the evening included a string of cultural activities.
Visitors were seen engaging in traditional Chinese paper-cutting activity, blow blossom art, Chinese calligraphy, block & batik painting, origami, labu painting, face painting, henna art, gold thread embroidery, baking kuih kapit, kolam designing, and many more.
Lighthearted entertainment in the form of clowning magic was provided by Au Young Events. The antics kept children enthralled.
