IIFW™ ’19 Fashion with a Heart Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative
Through the fundraising efforts via the globally recognised homegrown International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW™), almost half a million Ringgit was raised. The successful event meant that much-needed medical devices could be purchased, and donated to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

Among the equipment handed over by IIFW™ to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) in Ipoh was an EEG (Natus NeuroWorks Digital EEG32 ICU aEEG Videometry Monitor), making it accessible for the first time in Perak state, and second in the country. This scanner checks the activity of the brain in order to monitor the brain condition of patients with seizures.

In her speech IIFW™ patron Datin Seri Dr Nomee Ashikin Mohammed Radzi said, “We have purchased for PICU a very sophisticated device to ensure child patients do not suffer from seizures that cannot be seen, but only happens in the brain. It is equipped with cameras, has continuous telemetry video and other advanced features.”

Other devices donated during the ceremony were Atom Infa Warmer Intensive Care Infant Warmer, 3M™ Bair Hugger™ Warming Unit, BREAS VIVO 50 Ventilator including complete accessories, IQ Nasal Gel Mask with IQ Stable Fit Headgear, BREAS VIVO 40 Ventilator including complete accessories and Respironics WISP Paediatric CPAP Mask.

Guest-of-honour at IIFW™’s Fashion with a Heart corporate social responsibility consign of hospital equipment ceremony was Her Royal Highness Sultanah of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim.

Chief Executive Officer of IIFW™, Louis Sebastian said, “I am utmost grateful for the support and sponsorship we received, which enabled us to give back to the community at such a scale. It’s heartening to note that IIFW™ is only three years old in the Perak fashion industry but the public awareness generated has been simply amazing. We have also received feedback not only within Malaysia but also in other countries where IIFW™ has made a mark, to indirectly promote Perak to the world.

“For the past three events, the monies raised by IIFW™ were donated to HRPB, but it is the hospital that identifies which department is the beneficiary to the donation. Last year’s focus was on PICU. Our target for 2020 is RM1 million. Therefore, we need the support of corporate bodies to achieve our goal.”
In 2019, the total amount collected was RM321,300, but jumped to RM421,300 as a result of the RM100,000 donated by the Sultan Azlan Shah Foundation.
