Rainforest Challenge Grand Final 2024: Conquering Lenggong in its 27th Edition
The Rainforest Challenge (RFC) Grand Final returns for its landmark 27th edition, bringing its signature mix of grit, determination, and adventure to the historic town of Lenggong, Perak, Malaysia.
Recognised globally as one of the most extreme off-road competitions, the RFC continues to captivate participants and audiences alike, solidifying Malaysia’s position as a hub for extreme motorsports.
Grand Final Flag-off in Lenggong
The excitement began with the official flag-off of the 27th RFC Grand Final, where 150 robust four-wheel-drive vehicles were unleashed in a symbolic ceremony. Officiated by YB Loh Sze Yee, Perak State ExCo for Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development, the event celebrated RFC’s storied legacy and its status as the world’s No. 3 of the Top 5 Toughest Offroad extreme motoring challenges, on par with prestigious events such as the Dakar Rally, BAJA Race, Le Mans 24hr Race and Isle of Man Race.
The flag-off event was graced by a distinguished roster of dignitaries, reflecting the importance of the RFC in promoting Perak and Malaysia on the global stage. Besides YB Loh Sze Yee were YBhg. Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot, Deputy Secretary-General (Management), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC); Encik Faizal Nizam Md Noor, Chief Assistant District Officer of Hulu Perak; Cik Nurmalis Binti Musa, CEO of Tourism Perak; Encik Mohd Amzari Bin Mohd Arzami, YDP Lenggong District Council; Encik Ahmad Fazril Bin Ramli, Gerik District Council Secretary; and Luis J.A. Wee, Founder of RFC. Their presence underscored the event’s significance as both a sporting and tourism milestone for Perak.
Global Participation
This year’s RFC Grand Final welcomes over 300 participants and international media representatives from more than 20 countries, including Poland, Germany, India, Australia, and Japan. The event serves as a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and international collaboration, further enhancing Malaysia’s reputation in the realm of extreme sports.

Prologue Event in Kampung Chain Lenggong
The competition officially began with a Prologue Special Stages on 30th November and 1st December at Kampung Chain, Lenggong. The Prologue was a lively affair, featuring exhibition booths, four-wheel-drive vehicle showcases, and the sale of exclusive RFC souvenirs, providing something for both motorsport enthusiasts and casual visitors.
Battling Nature’s Toughest Terrain
After the 2-day Prologue, on 2nd December, participants will embark on a gruelling journey through some of Perak’s most challenging landscapes:
Piah Forest Reserve (Terkop)
Piah Forest Reserve (Kg Sanum Pos Poi)
Korbu Forest Reserve (Ulu Kuang)
This intense expedition tests the mettle of even the most seasoned competitors, culminating in a celebratory closing event in Ipoh on 9th December at MH Hotel.
