A hundred children were treated to a scrumptious buffet dinner and light entertainment at Symphony Suites (Hotel) in Ipoh last evening. Young guests from three children’s homes; Vision Home, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim & Miskin Ar-Ridzuani Ipoh, and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kasih Nurul Iman Negeri Perak were joined in by four destitute families, selected by Lioness Club Ipoh.
Organised by Symphony Suites, this pre-Aidilfitri celebration was to bring cheer to the children during this festive season. The evening was made more memorable with the distribution of gifts, school bags sponsored by Unisem Ipoh and ‘duit raya’.
The event was made possible by Symphony Suites with the collaboration and generous contribution, in cash and kind, from the hotel suppliers, vendors, corporate partners, supporters and friends.
The balance of the cash donated by well-wishers, after deducting the costs of the function, RM5880, will be distributed equally among the children’s homes. As this sum was insufficient to meet the immediate needs of the homes, the directors of Symphony Suites topped up the amount to RM16000. VIP guest, popular “Kampung Boy” cartoonist, then contributed RM1000 to the kitty, while Ipoh Mayor Dato’ Roshidi pledged RM3,000, to round up the total to RM20,000.
This is going to be an unforgettable Hari Raya for the children, and a meaningful one for the sponsors.
